Ehlathini (pronounced ey-hla-tini) is the Zulu word meaning “in the bush”. This aptly describes what awaits you, as you seek to unwind from the stresses of our modern lifestyles, and spend a little quality time closer to nature.
Ehlathini is situated in the northern Zululand area of Kwazulu Natal, about 20km North East from the village of Hluhluwe. Located on the boundary of False Bay Nature Reserve, the camp overlooks the northern section of the Greater St. Lucia Wetlands Reserve, which by the year 2000, was declared a WORLD HERITAGE SITE because of it’s natural beauty and important ecosystems.
Next to comfortable accommodation Ehlathini offers comprehensive self catering facilities, as well as a pool and gazebo. Ehlathini is centrally located for exploring the delights of the area, all at ‘value for money’ prices. Our property is suitable for excellent birding, it’s likely you will encounter our Herd of Zebra and wildebees, and various other wildlife including Nyala, Warthog, Genet and Civet cats. Due to the absence of bigger wildlife it’s safe to freely walk on our property. Being the heart of Zululand makes it very accessible to all the internationally renown local Game Reserves. (Hluhluwe Umfolozi, Mkuze, Phinda, and the St. Lucia Wetlands)
Ehlathini Lodge is operated by William and Lauren Allen who have more than 13 years combined experience in the game lodge hospitality industry in exclusive destinations such as Phinda Game Reserve (Zululand Elephant Coast), Londolozi (Sabie Sands), Shamwari (Eastern Cape) and Madikwe (Far North).
